Rural landscape, untitled watercolour

This signed image with bold gouache colours shows a domed white tower behind a group of white cottages. Tall trees are visible in the foreground, with the sea in the distance. The location is not known, although it may be near St Ives in Cornwall. This painting was among items discovered during renovation of Jeffs home studio, the Yellow Door, High Street, Kirkcudbright in the 1990s. In 1989, when the property was sold, his family presented a large archive to Dumfries Museum.
