Dalveen Pass, Thornhill
Dalveen
pass is the most southerly and the longest pass. Thornhill may date
as far back as the Romans, but the current village was planned in
1714. Thornhill is known because of its broad streets and
prosperous Victorian villas. The Mercat Cross in the centre of the
village is topped with a winged horse, the emblem of the Duke of
Queensberry.
