Robert Burns

Robert Burns was born 25th of January 1759 in Alloway. He was eldest of the seven children of William Burnes, a self-educated tenant farmer and Agnes Brown. In July 1786 he published his first volume of verse, Poems, Chiefly in the Scottish Dialect and it was a great success. Robert would continue to write verse and poems. In his later life, Robert would move to Dumfries where he lived out his days. He is regarded as the pioneer of the Romantic movement, and he is now an iconic figure within and outside of Scotland.
