Bronze Ewer (2)

Medieval ewer from Whitelawside Farm, Nicholforest, Canonbie dated c1300 AD.   People washed their hands during meals using the water from a ewer poured over a basin.  Regular handwashing was necessary because people ate with their fingers during this period.
