Seal matrix, Penninghame
Clachan of Penninghame, Wigtown
Small copper alloy seal matrix. Decorated at both ends
with a seal design comprising a worn inscription around a diagonal
cross motif.
This double-ended seal matrix would have been owned and
used by a local merchant. It dates from the 15th or 16th
century.
