Decorative plaque
Upper Rerrick Farm near Dundrennan
The plaque shows two interlaced animals, one biting the body of
the other. It is probably a piece of church metal work from a
shrine or book cover.
The plaque shows Northumbrian influence with the stylized
animals resembling those in the Lindisfarne Gospels, and is
probably 8th century in date.
