Anglian Hall, Lockerbie Academy

The trenches for the timbers of an Anglian hall were recovered during excavations ahead of the construction of a new Academy a Lockerbie. Also visible are the post-holes of an earlier hall on a slightly different allignment. It is not known whether the earlier hall is also Anglian, or perhaps a British one from the former occupants before the Northumbrian takeover of south-west Scotland in the first half of the 7th century.
