Decorated strap-end
Decorated strap ends like this were very common in northern
England (Northumbria) during the eighth and ninth centuries.
Similar strap ends have been discovered on Luce Sands and at a site
close to Stranraer. Finds such as these indicate trading
contacts with the rest of the Kingdom of Northumbria.
A bronze plate which would have been attached to the end of a
leather strap or band. It is decorated with a stylised aminal
head - look for the ears, eyes and snout.
