Manuscript Order, 1671
Orders connected with the request that the magistrates of
Dumfries deliver Janet Hewat, Bessie Paine, Margaret Fleyming,
Grissall Mcnae and Margaret Mcguffock, all accused of witchcraft,
to Kirkcudbright to await trial.
A footnote adds - "Cause your officers to tie them with small
cords and let them be delivered to the bearer at the Brigend (the
Maxwelltown side of the Old Bridge) by the sun rising upon Thursday
morning. 6 th June 1671."
