Manuscript Account, 1650

  Account for "several suppers" held by the committees of the Presbytery and the Town Council when "they drew up the indictment against those suspect of the horrid sinne of witchcraft…" 1650 Dumfries.    The judicial process was at times very extensive. Due to the high number of witnesses and accusers for one person, each accusation was intricately discussed.  Despite popular belief, not all accusations took hold and some were ultimately thrown out.
