Welsh Knife
These knives were carried by the 9th battalion 'Royal Welsh
Fusiliers' during the 1st World War. They were presented to
the battalion by the 8th Lord Howard de Walden, equipping the
regiment he was second in command of.
Born out of an attempt to create a viable weapon for
close-quarters combat in the trenches, this 'new and improved
trench knife' was patented by Felix Joubert, renowned armourer who
had a close working relationship with de Walden.
