Kukri 2
The kukri is a type of machete that originated from the Indian
subcontinent. The weapon is associated mostly with ethnic Nepalese
Gurka soldiers, so much so that they are often termed a 'Gurka
knife' by English speakers. The weapons are characterised by their
distinct curved blades.
They are suited well for chopping, due to their weight, and
slashing, as their curved blade can cut effectively and deeply.
This kukri dates from around the time of WWII. During the war,
there were around 40 Gurkha Battalions in British service,
amounting to around 110,000 soldiers.
