Spanish left hand dagger 2
This left hand dagger has a shell guard with a simple,
naturalistic design that has been chiselled and hammered into its
metal. The quillons are unadorned and the grip is decorated with
braided wires at its top and base. The hilt is capped with a
spherical pommel. The ricasso of the blade is rectangular with
indents in its centre to provide a rest point for its user's finger
when in use. A single fuller runs down the centre f the blade to
its mid-point, with an inscription reading 'WILHELM' with a second
name obscured by time. The blade is double-edged, making the dagger
suited to both slashing and thrusting.
