Dagger of Maximilian type
This Maximilian type dagger is composed of a blackened steel
hilt and blade. Its hilt has a plate on its front, flanked by
short, slim quillons. The grip has a chevron pattern etched in low
relief and is surmounted by a spherical pommel.
Weaponry and armoury of Maximilian type derive their
classification from a style of early 16th century German designs
named after Maximilian I, who was the Holy Roman Emperor from 1508
until his death in 1519.
