Loch Ness

Loch Ness is a large, deep, freshwater loch in the Scottish Highlands extending approximately 23 miles southwest of Inverness. It is the second largest Scottish loch by surface area at 22 square miles after Loch Lomond, but due to the depth of Loch Ness is it the largest volume loch in the British Isles. The deepest point is 755 feet, making it the second deepest loch in Scotland after Loch Morar. It is most commonly known as the home of the Loch Ness Monster (also known as "Nessie") a cryptic large unknown animal. The interest in the Loch Ness monster started in 1933, and continues to hold the attention of many visitors to the area.
