Roman Lamp
Roman clay lamps like this one have handles, holes for filling and
a nozzle for the wick to come out of. They would have most
often burned olive oil. This one dates from the 1st to the
5th century A.D. and was found near the supposed site of
Cleopatra's Needle in Alexandria, Egypt. Lamps like these
have been found only rarely in Scotland.
