Penannular Brooch
unknown but thought to be in the Kilmarnock area of Ayrshire.
This Romano British brooch is in the form of a ring with a
break at one point, these brooches were commonly used as fastenings
for clothes.
The pin is pushed through the material to be fastened, then the
pin goes through the break in the ring and the ring is turned
through ninety degrees, locking the pin in place behind the
ring.
