Turned antler, Whithorn

A screw-threaded piece of antler with central collar, broken at both ends. One of the ends is hollow, the other solid. Simlar finds from Goltho and York have been interpreted as bobbins, though in both cases they were completely hollowed. Another suggestion is that this is the remains of a tuning peg for a musical intrument.
