Bronze belt buckle

Buckle with animal-headed terminals, lackin pin,  and belt-plate with incised scorped decoration.   The D-shaped ring has two cast ridges, to receive the pin, and highly stylised animal head terminals. The upraised snouts and receeding chins of the animals are similar to ones on the St Ninian's Isle hoard, dated to the 9th century, though the motif has a long life and can also be seen on Irish pins dateable to the second half of the 10th century.
