Sugar Bowl
This wooden sugar bowl is decorated with a shaped stem and has
the initals "J K" painted on the bowl. The rim of the bowl is
also painted.
Cane Sugar became available in Europe during the Middle Ages,
but was considered expensive and regarded as medicinal. By the 17th
century, and after expansion in production in the New World, it was
largely consumed in maritime countires such as Britain.
