Spice Box
This simple design is typical of the spice box most homes would
have had - a box or jar with a removable lid.
The 16th century discovery of America and the western Hemisphere
gave rise to the term "New World." Due to the new trading routes
which then emerged from the New World, spices such as pepper,
cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg and ginger, which had previously been seen
as luxuries became more available.
