Victory Medal 1914 - 1919 (1)

Awarded to Private J Wilson, Highland Light Infantry. Inscription around edge:   '38281 PTE J Wilson H.L.I.'   The Victory Medal was a campaign medal awarded to individuals who served in World War I. It was authorised in 1919. Campaign medals were awarded to those who saw service overseas.   The front of the medal features the figure of Victory, on the reverse is the inscription 'THE GREAT WAR FOR CIVILISATION 1914 - 1919'.
