Tea Caddies (natsuke)
Natsuke (tea caddies) are used to hold matcha
(powdered green tea) during the tea ceremony. They are not
used for storing tea but are carefully chosen for guests to admire
and to co-ordinate with the other tea utensils used.
These small, lidded caddies are made of black lacquered wood,
and feature floral motives and birds in gold with inlaid mother of
pearl.
