English court sword

This English small sword, also known as a court sword, is an early 19th century example of the weapon. The sword features a studded grip and perume bottle-shaped pommel, chiselled finger loops, and a heavily pierced hand guard.   The height of popularity for small swords, or court swords, was between the 17th and 18th centuries following on from the popular use of the larger rapier. This 19th century blade represents a later example of the weapon that was made towards their wane in use.
