Transitional rapier 2

The 1600s saw the movement away from the long bladed rapier towards a 'transitional' rapier that saw smaller hilts and blades that were better suited for thrusting than cutting. This transitional rapier has a pierced blade, silver encrusted hilt with chiselled foliate designs on the guard and quillons, and Classical figures on its fig-shaped pommel.
