Saxon-type rapier in 16th century style
This silver-mounted Saxon-type rapier is likely the work of
notorious Dresden-based forger Anton Konrad. Konrad was one of
the most successful forgers of edged weapons over a 30 year period
in the early 20th century, with some of his most accomplished
pieces being copies of swords and daggers of originals from the
Saxon Royal Armouries. Many of these sword and daggers were sprayed
with acid to simulate age-related corrosion.
