War hammer
War hammers were used as a close-combat weapon during the
medieval period. They likely gained prominence as a response to
plate armour: where swords could ricochet off helmets and armour,
hammers could deliver full-impact blows to concuss
the opponent and pierce their armour. The wooden pole of
this object is etched on one side with an 'S', and on the other
side, the Masonic symbol.
