The ranseur, also known as a roncone, was a polearm similar to a
partisan with a three-pronged head like a trident. The
ranseur is a thrusting weapon, with the side prongs being used
to push cavalry men off their horses, or to break weapons if they
got caught in between the main spike and side prong.
