Burgonet Parade Helmet

A Burgonet helmet was an early modern combat helmet which can be characterized by having their large fixed or hinged peak projecting above the face-opening down towards the back neck of the helmet. They can be fairly lightweight and would have been worn by both cavalry and infantry.    During the mid-16th century a new fashion emerged in Europe for arms and armour based on the forms found in classical art.  You can see this style represented in this Burgonet as it has a richness and variety of decoration, something for which armourers in Italy were renowned
