HORNEL, Edward Atkinson (1864 - 1933)
Hornel's decision to settle in Kirkcudbright rather than in Glasgow was of central importance to the development of 'the Kirkcudbright School'. He attracted other artists to the town, first his close friend George Henry who often visited to paint alongside Hornel in his studio, then Guthrie and then several of the other Glasgow Boys.
