Artistic Communities

The south-west has been home to one of Scotland's famous artistic communities - the Kirkcudbright School. There are also strong associations with the Glasgow Boys, who were drawn to Kirkcudbright and several of whom were from the region. Less well known is the story of Penkill Castle, where several artists associated with the Pre-Raphaelites spent periods of time.
