Doon Castle, Slot for Door Bar

At the side of one of the existing doors to Doon Castle you can still see the slots in the stonework which once held the bar used for strengthening and securing the door from the inside. The wooden bar could be slid inside this hole in order to open the door inwards. The other, smaller, hole in the wall was probably where a strong iron door hinge was fastened.
