Metal spoon, Cruggleton Castle

Cruggleton Castle
The pointed, leaf-shaped bowl of a copper spoon.  Fragments like this give us a glimpse of domestic life in a Medieval castle.   Cruggleton Castle is located on a cliff top overlooking Wigtown Bay.  It has been an important power base for thousands of years and excavation has shown that the site was occupied in the Iron Age, the Dark Ages and again in the Medieval period.  It was one of the centres of the Lords of Galloway.
