Stone axe, Stairhaven
Stairhaven, Glenluce
This beautifully finished stone axe was found with fragments of
Neolithic pottery - Peterborough Ware - in a cairn at
Stairhaven. Unfortunately nothing else is known about the
discovery.
The axe is made from Cumbrian tuff and was made at one of the
Neolithic axe quarries in the English Lake District.
