Dumfries Relief Church, 1790 Minister: John Lawson (1790-1808) Lawson was ordained in 1781 as minister of the Protestant Dissenting Congregation at Spittal, near Berwick. They joined with the Relief Church in 1780 and Lawson moved to Dumfries in 1790. Whitelaw 112
