Bible of the church on St Kilda, 1884

Bible in English presented to the church on St Kilda by the Free Church of Scotland on 17 December 1884.  When the island was abandoned in 1930, each family left an open Bible in their home but this church Bible was brought to the mainland and kept by Neil Ferguson.  Born in 1899, Ferguson was a church elder, ground officer, school visitor, the islands last postmaster and the last native St Kildan to be married on the island in 1925. Neil Ferguson died age 75 in 1976.
