Bible of the church on St Kilda, 1884

Bible in English presented to the church on St Kilda by the Free

Church of Scotland on 17 December 1884.  When the island was

abandoned in 1930, each family left an open Bible in their home but

this church Bible was brought to the mainland and kept by Neil

Ferguson jnr.  Born in 1899, Neil and his wife, Mary Ann MacQueen, 

were the last natives of St Kilda to be married on the island, in 1925. 

Neil Ferguson died in 1976. 

Neil's father, Neil Ferguson snr was a church elder, ground

officer, school visitor, and the islands last postmaster.
