Mourning outfit

During Victorian times black clothes were worn by next of kin at the funeral and for a year after the death.  Different etiquette applied for men and women, and according to kinship.   This outfit of skirt and jacket illustrates the fashion of the day for a woman in full mourning.  Colour, such as purple or dark green may be introduced after a year.
