Tilley Hat

The Tilley hat originated in 1980, when Alexander Tilley, an amateur yachtsman, decided to make himself the perfect hat. He wanted his sailor's hat to float, tie under the chin, stand up to the harshest weather, launder, look classic, and be comfortable to wear.  In January 1984 Tilley founded Tilley Endurables and began to sell his hats via mail order from the basement of his Toronto home.
