Shamshir

Shamshirs are a slim, radically curved, one-handed blade originating from the Middle East. Early forms of the sword began to appear in Persia around the 9th century, developing into what is recognised as a shamshir in the 16th century.   The swords have offset pommels that bend back from the grip to give balance to a swinging attack when in combat. It is part of the scimitar family of swords, including Indian talwars, an example of which you can see  here.
