Hunting sword

By the end of the Middle Ages, hunting by nobles was carried out for sport rather than necessity, and the hunting sword presented an opportunity for gentlemen to showcase wealth and status. Long bladed hunting swords such as this object enabled mounted horsemen to use the sword. This hunting sword has a silver-encrusted hilt, with the metal emphasising the foliate design across the crossguard, grip, guard and pommel.
