German processional two-handed sword

This object is a large two-handed sword that was made to impress rather than as a weapon. Swords like this would have been used to thrill the crowds at parades, gatherings, and other civic events.   The sword features a fig-shaped pommel that surmounts a leather-covered grip. The sword's hilt also featured a slightly downturned crossguard with scrolled terminals.
