Woollen jacket

This garment was knitted on several double ended needles.  It has no side or sleeve seams, and the shape was achieved by increasing and decreasing as required.  The sleeves were added by picking up stitches around the armhole and knitting down.  The collar was created in a similar way.   The style directly reflects the shape of tailored jackets of the period, as knitted garments had not yet developed their own place of fashion.
