Bronze Age Urn, Ochiltree

Ochiltree
A cinerary urn found in a mound in 1955 when excavating for drains at a new housing scheme. The urn, which was found inverted 1.0m below the present surface, contained a large quantity of calcined bones and rested on a clay 'floor' without a stone slab.    Perhaps the mound contains further urns, and there is the possibility that this may be a tumulus containing a central cist and a number of secondary cremation burials.
