Battle-axe, Moormains

This beautiful stone battle-axe from Moormains, Wigtownshire was added to the Selby Collection in 1893.  The perforation or shaft-hole is incomplete.   Battle-axes, which probably had a ritual function, are rare in south-west Scotland and only four other examples are known from the Wigtownshire Machars.
