Red Deer Antler, Applegarth

Brieryhill Farm, Millhousebridge, Applegarth
Found 7 feet deep in peat and uncovered during redevelopment of the land, this object is part of a red deer antler with a fragment of skull attached. The upper part of the antler is missing. Red deer were common in this area during mesolithic times. People would have hunted them for meat and used their antlers to make tools.
