This holograph letter fragment is from Robert Burns to his friend and neighbour, John McMurdo, Chamberlain to the Duke of Queensberry at Drumlanrig Castle.   Burns often wrote to McMurdo, enclosing songs or poems.   This letter refers to a ballad he has written.
