Traveller’s Tales

Many interesting and celebrated characters have written about their travels around the south-West of Scotland. This gives us an intriguing insight into the impressions they had of the area and serves as an important primary source of people's views on the landscape, its towns, its people and the changes that took place in the region over the years. Many reviews are serious but others are often amusing or opinionated but all are valuable records of not only the periods in which they were written, but of the writers themselves.
