Euclide's Elements by Isaac Barrow, London, 1722

This book is signed "John Paul Navigator de Paris" on the flyleaf.  After his death it came into the possession of Janet Taylor, John Paul Jones' sister.  It was purchased at a sale of the effects of her husband, William Taylor, Watchmaker, of Dumfries.   Euclid (323 - 283 BC) was a Greek mathematician credited with discovering the principles of modern geometry.  Isaac Barrow (1630 - 1677) was an English mathematician and theologian, who is remembered as the professor who served as inspiration and mentor to Isaac Newton.
