Bush clearing Axehead
Carzield Roman fort
Discovered during an excavation of the Roman Fort of Carzield in
1931, this axehead was used primarily for the purpose of bush
clearing. The Hole for the shaft iis n parallel with the
blade which has a rectangular profile with a squared cutting edge.
Unfortunately the condition of this object is relatively poor,
and there has been some corrosion with several cracks and a
complete split around the shaft hole.
