On Intemperance in the Royal Navy, by Rear Admiral Sir John Ross.   Sir John Ross is best knonw as a Polar explorer.  He was also concerned with social conditions in the Navy.  This pamphlet was written after Ross had retired to Stranraer and outlines his ideas for dealing with drunkenness at sea.
